MONDBLUT - Scorn

Why I've chosen this band. Several years after I heard ANGSTERFUELLTES MORGEN from MONDBLUT, I finally found SCORN. If you have read the other interview, you know that I simply love MONDBLUT and consider it the most melancholic band in the world.
The Music. Nothing has changed at first glance. Several very weird sound introduce the CD and the same dark feeling comes back. Slow rythms start and dark melodies lead you to another world. However, the compositions are as nearly as good as on ANGSTERFUELLTES MORGEN. SCORN brings everything back, but the suicidal atmosphere could not reach the one on the debut CD. This is nothing bad. It just means that SCORN is another CD than the debut is. Definitly it's more competent on composition. It's dark and it's weird. It's poetic. But while ANGSTERFUELLTES MORGEN has so many different views, SCORN hasn't. No problem at all, the CD is still one of the best of the genres. Just put your suitcase out of your pockets and buy it. At SCORN are some new influences and instruments used. This is good at all and gives you more impressions in a cloudscaped world. Again the lyrics are very poetic. Again it's a travel through dark worlds.
The Mixdown. Mix is great. All instruments are clear and have a very good panning. Everything is powerful and scary. The less progressiv parts come with much energy, the dreamy parts are foggy. As usual the kick drum is extraordinary mixed, just a small and dry hit with full bass. Excellent. However, I think that sometimes the voices are not to clear to hear. I had several moments where I thought that the song is an instrumental, cause the vocals are so much mixed into background. However, this is taste. Excellend mixed, but for me a bit more vocals - like on ANGSTERFUELLTES morgen of course :-)
The Layout. While the debut layout was an unique and minimalistic masterpiece, I am not a huge fan of this layout. The front cover bores me. Asian symbols are not mine. MONDBLUT even used a simple font for it's logo. And candles bore me too. Sorry. Everybody has had that enough. The lyrics are include, which is good, since the lyrics are great as usual. But the font it's very basic again. Well, I was a bit dissapointed - music such a wonder and then this layout?
Some final words. Except layout, this one is great. Music has grown. It's not so depressive as ANGSTERFUELLTES MORGEN is, but I don't worry. This one gets the second place in the best releases ever. I really like it and I hope tht MONDBLUT gets another album out before I have grow hair. SCORN needed 6 years to complete. You guys should really give that albums a listen. Hopefully Last.FM has some samples for you, since nobody does any ads for this great band. And yes, I know it's a band, since this release gave me some names ;-)
